re-shake

studying sucks.  i get reluctant to start any new project because i know how easily i can get infatuated with it and end up nowhere 4 hours later.  so i decided my only musical break would be adjusted projects i already worked on, this is what i came with.  slight adjustments to the dropping bass line and the slight echo of my dad playing tubla in the beginning quarter and end.

this track has a lot of meaning i tried to convey.
the chaotic battle cry of instruments trying to be heard over each other,
finally drowned by the bass drop that sort of shows the true pecking order of power.
a conflicting piece of parts with eventual suppression in the end.

shake [new track]

2011 has no doubt been very difficult for many throughout the world.  the quake and tsunami in japan.  the revolutions in the arab world.  conflict continuing in africa.  conflict continuing in palestine.  us entering a 3rd "war". prices. food. oil. disease. radiation. money. greed.
but through these dark times, i see hope and a bright future.  i saw my young arab brothers and sisters go out in the streets and fight for their freedom against the corruption of government.  i saw how much of an impact technology has on our generation and how simple video posts can spark massive movements for a single cause.  i saw a country devastated by mother nature, buildings ripped from the earth, and not a story of looting or violence by the heartbroken individuals.
but during these times of such resilience and need for human empathy and cooperation, i cant help but feel hopeless that our hearts here are not in the right place.  i hope i am wrong, because we as a country with a flick of a pen can move mountains.
i have never been so heartbroken and yet so inspired by the individual and collective stories i have seen on the news.  personally all i can do for now is sleep thankful, and wake up hopeful for a better.
a good friend of mine (haserad.com) once told me that heaven and hell is all around us but its custom and individualized. sometimes its up to us to save and sometimes its out of our hands.
well this is my latest track off reason.  used a little different style, got a little help from my all time fave Mr. MJ whose voice is just so incredibly powerful.  ive probably listened to this sample hundreds of times and think that his ability to progress and transition a piece from beginning to end is unmatched.  definitely cant do him justice, but i felt that in times like these who better to go to than the king.

[Palestine]

"Children of gaza, there is no days without remembering the smiles and the warmth you gave me when i played in gaza city two years ago, palestinian citizens there is no days without praying the end of the nightmare you leave in for 60 years now. But to every nightmare there's an awakening, and i'm sure i will land in your country one day and will see on the airport's wall those big letters "WELCOME TO PALESTINE" "
